<image:caption>March is known for the buzzer-beaters, brackets, and unexpected upsets. But here’s a different kind of challenge… Can your balance system make it through the bracket? Your vestibular system—your eyes, inner ears, brain, and body working together—is constantly competing for accuracy. When one part struggles, symptoms like dizziness, brain fog, or motion sensitivity can take over. Let’s see how your system performs.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - What to Know After Starting Vestibular Rehab - If you’ve just started vestibular rehab, congratulations—you’ve taken the first step toward retraining your balance system and getting your life back. But many people are surprised by what they feel during those first few sessions. At Rebalance Physical Therapy, we want you to know exactly what to expect so you can stay confident and motivated throughout your recovery.</image:title>
<image:caption>1. Feeling Worse Before You Feel Better Is Normal Your vestibular system—your inner ear, eyes, and brain—has likely been compensating for dysfunction for a while. When therapy challenges those systems, your brain has to relearn how to process motion and position correctly. That process can temporarily increase your dizziness, nausea, or fatigue, but that’s actually a sign your brain is working to recalibrate. These sensations typically lessen within the first few weeks of consistent therapy.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - 5 Factors That Can Cause BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo) - Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is one of the most common causes of dizziness, creating brief but intense spinning sensations triggered by certain head movements.</image:title>
<image:caption>Many people are surprised to learn that BPPV happens because tiny calcium crystals in the inner ear (otoconia) become dislodged and move into the semicircular canals, confusing the balance system.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Why Stores Make You Dizzy: Understanding Visual Overload and the Vestibular System - If busy environments leave you feeling dizzy, off balance, or overwhelmed, it might not just be "in your head" — your eyes and brain may not be working together efficiently. At Rebalance Physical Therapy, we use RightEye technology to objectively assess how your eyes are tracking, focusing, and stabilizing during movement. This simple, non-invasive exam can uncover visual tracking issues that are often missed — and once we know what your eyes are really doing, we can create a customized vestibular rehab plan to help you feel better in motion and in life.</image:title>

In this blog, we’ll explore why rolling over in bed can trigger dizziness and what you can do about it.</image:title>
<image:caption>There are different reasons why you may get dizziness with change in body or head position, but for this blog, we will be focusing on BPPV, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Why Rolling Over In Bed Can Make You Dizzy – Understanding Vertigo - The inner ear is one of the three systems that help keep you balanced and aware of where your body is in the world.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Why Rolling Over In Bed Can Make You Dizzy – Understanding Vertigo - Why does this matter? Traditional BPPV treatment often involves a one-size-fits-all approach, but not all cases of BPPV are the same. By identifying the exact canal that is affected, we can apply the most effective repositioning maneuver to clear the displaced crystals (otoconia) from the correct canal, leading to faster relief and reducing the risk of repeated dizziness episodes.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - How Athletes Can Recognize When Their Vestibular System Is Off: A Football Receiver Analogy - Imagine being a wide receiver in football, lining up for the snap. Your job is to sprint down the field, make a sharp cut, and catch the ball while dodging defenders. To do this efficiently, your vestibular system—the part of your inner ear that controls balance, coordination, and spatial awareness—needs to be functioning at its best. But when your vestibular system is off, it’s like trying to make those plays without being able to fully see the ball or know where your body is in space.</image:title>

This 5 minute assessment gives you numerical data on how well your eyes are performing during these crucial tasks that all athletes need to master for peak performance.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Can Motion Sickness Be Treated?: How Physical Therapy Is The Missing Link - What is Motion Sickness?</image:title>
<image:caption>Motion sickness occurs when there is a disconnect between what your eyes see, what your inner ear senses, and how your brain processes these signals. This mismatch of sensory information confuses the brain, leading to symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, vomiting, sweating, and fatigue. For example, when you're reading in a car, your eyes are focused on a stationary object, but your inner ear detects movement, creating a conflict that results in motion sickness. Similarly, on a boat, the constant rocking motion can cause your inner ear to send mixed signals to your brain, triggering the unpleasant symptoms.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - “Tackling” The Need For Concussion Awareness in Football - Your vestibular system within your inner ear tells you where you are in space. When you have a head injury as in a concussion, the vestibular system is directly insulted and you have vestibular symptoms like blurry vision, difficulty eye tracking, imbalance, and dizziness. Vestibular rehabilitation is key in retraining your brain to communicate with your inner ear and eyes again more effectively so that everything functions together smoothly.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - The Concussion Conundrum: The Missing Piece To Recovery - A concussion is a traumatic brain injury that occurs from blunt force trauma, a fall, or any jolt to the brain. Although there is typically tearing of blood vessels, pulling of nerve fibers, bruising of the brain, and damage to brain cells, there is usually no signs of altered structure visible on CT scans or imaging. Therefore, a concussion is an alteration in brain function, more than an alteration in structure, making it more difficult to diagnose and appropriately treat.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - The Concussion Conundrum: The Missing Piece To Recovery - A concussion is most often acknowledged when there has been a blow to the head. Whether that means you accidentally fall and hit your head or a coconut falls on your head, either could most certainly cause a concussion. However, you CAN get a concussion WITHOUT hitting your head!</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - The Concussion Conundrum: The Missing Piece To Recovery - As listed above, “pressure” in the head, headaches, vision changes, dizziness, balance problems….all of these are also symptoms of a compromised vestibular system that we as vestibular physical therapists see often.</image:title>
<image:caption>One of the most common consequences of concussions is the disruption of the vestibular system. The forceful impact or sudden movement that causes a concussion can result in damage to the vestibular nerve and the delicate structures within the inner ear, leading to vestibular dysfunction. Because the vestibular system is responsible for maintaining balance, spatial orientation, and coordination, its clear to see how a compromised vestibular system is in need of addressing when it comes to overcoming the impacts of concussion.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - 3 Reasons Why Dry Needling Is “On Point” - “I came to Rebalance after discussions with my physical therapist and chiropractor about the neck muscle spasms I was having. I had X-rays, an MRI, multiple doctor visits, cupping massages, and stretching to try to relieve the issue. Adi made me feel comfortable and explained to me what was going on and why so I could understand. My muscle spasms are gone and now just working on random headaches and some muscle tightening. I'm very happy with my results and wish I would have known about this sooner.”</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - 3 Reasons Why Dry Needling Is “On Point” - “ I had a hamstring injury that wasn't healing in a normal time frame - it had become chronic. It was always tight, and it wasn't progressing. I began getting discouraged about it. I reached out to Rebalance, and they suggested a dry needling session. I was a little skeptical as to how much it would help, but it turned out to be the breakthrough that I needed! The hamstring had been injured for 9 weeks, and within a few days of the first needling session, it felt significantly better. The constant tension I had been feeling was gone for the first time in weeks! I got a second session 10 days later, and within a couple days the hamstring felt back to normal! I'm incredibly thankful to have had their help, and I am glad to have them as a resource here in the Greenville area going forward.”</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - 3 Reasons Why Dry Needling Is “On Point” - “I was experiencing numbness and tingling sensations down my arms to my hands/fingertips. My neck, shoulder blades, and right arm was constantly sore with discomfort. I tried chiropractic adjustments, workouts to target the area, multiple stretches, massage gun, etc. I was referred by someone who had work done by Adi, and couldn't believe the results that had taken place so quickly. I had to see for myself! Adi made me feel like she cared! She was extremely personal and took time to explain everything. I’d compare it to having a best friend in the field that gets to fix you! LITERALLY THE NEXT DAY I HAD NO PAIN, NO SORENESS, NO TINGLING SENSATION AT ALL! I recommend anyone with the same/similar issues to give this business a shot!! Definitely WORTH IT!!!"</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Understanding The Vestibular System: The System That We All Have And Don’t Know We Need - Problems with the Vestibular System? Sometimes, the vestibular system can experience issues, which can lead to problems with balance and spatial awareness. This might result from an ear infection, head injury or concussion, crystals getting dislodged in the canals causing positional vertigo (BPPV), or a medical condition like Meniere’s disease. People with vestibular disorders might experience dizziness, vertigo, motion sickness, blurry or lagging vision, and difficulty with everyday activities.</image:title>

<image:title>Blog - Understanding The Vestibular System: The System That We All Have And Don’t Know We Need - Vestibular rehabilitation can fix dislodged crystals in the canals of the inner ear causing positional vertigo through canal repositioning maneuvers. It can address lagging vision by strengthening that vestibular ocular reflex.</image:title>
<image:caption>We can strengthen the communication of the inner ear and coordination of eye movements with the brain so that those signals telling you where you are in space are more efficient and more accurate. We can challenge your balance by biasing the other systems and making the vestibular system work harder.</image:caption>

<image:title>Blog - Slouch No More: How Poor Posture Packs a Punch on Muscle Strains - Getting you into a more neutral head position involves strengthening the mid back and increasing stability of the deep neck flexors in the front of the neck. Our heads weigh 10-15 pounds! The more forward your head goes, the more load and stress is placed on your neck musculature and joints. The upper trapezius needs to be allowed to relax while the middle and lower trapezius fibers needs to be strengthened. So, if your mid back is strong and the front of the neck is strong and more stable, obtaining and maintaining upright posture will be much easier and way less work on your muscles and joints.</image:title>

      <image:title>About Us</image:title>
<image:caption>Our Goal For our patients to feel HEARD, VALUED, and MOTIVATED to regain their independence and live the life they have always wanted. Our Story We started Rebalance Physical Therapy in 2022 to serve the dizzy community in the Upstate. We had noticed while working in traditional physical therapy clinics the lack of priority and care given to this community. Both Kat and Adi have had a passion for this population since initially receiving their degrees. Our mission is for each individual to get the level of care they require and deserve in order to regain their independence and life back!</image:caption>
